About six years ago, I went to Pakistan. One day, while I was sitting at home with my mother, a woman from our village, came to my mother she looked very stressed and upset, and after asking about her condition, her eyes first got wet and then she started crying. My mother reassured her and asked what was the matter that made her cry. The woman’s husband had died and there was no special source of income. They had small children. so, she said that her electricity bill has come to seven thousand rupees, and she doesn’t even have money for food.

My mother reassured her and said don’t worry, Allah will have mercy. Then my mother told me to give her seven thousand rupees so that her electricity bill would be paid. I gave them money so rest assured that from that day on I was very worried that those who have no earnings are in such a bad condition. On that day I decided that what I really needed to do was learn how to do it right. I found out in my village how many people are in such a position that it is difficult to make ends meet. So about twenty-five families were like that. Some of them were widows who had no proper source of income and were living with great difficulty, so I tried this with some of my friends who was working abroad and told them situation and about my programme what I want to do. They were so happy and appreciate my thoughts and future intension.

I made a WhatsApp group and added all friends who were belongs to that village and working aboard and request them to donate funds so we can start this project as soon as possible and help those families who are suffering from financial hardship and other difficulties at least they knew that their children will not sleep hungry.  I form a committee of youngster volunteers of the village and assign them the duties for buying ration and delivering to needy family’s homes. Thanks, Almighty Allah few of them start sending funds.

Alhamdulillah next month I started delivering rations to needy family’s homes on monthly basis. So, thank God this series has been going on for the last 5 years now many of the friends and colleagues who were together in the first year have left the grope due to some of their circumstances have changed. So now there are only two or three friends left who still have been doing this good deed for five years and still, thank God, they are continuing in this project and successfully we are carrying delivering rations to the needy families.

So right now, we’re thinking of expanding it, so I was trying to get a charity registered. Praise be to Allah. If the intentions are good, then Allah will make every difficult task easy. The charity has been registered in the UK so now through this charity inshallah we will try that it is very much in need of a maternity hospital in the village there is a need to build a mosque and need an ambulance and to keep the deceased cool in summer Refrigerator needed. Most of the people in this area are for the employment living abroad, so when someone their loved one dies, they cannot reach on time, so they can use the facility.

We will do whatever we can and most needed in this area, God willing.

In addition, the education of orphans and the poor children’s will be arranged, and their school fees, uniforms, stationery, and accommodation expenses will be paid. We will help the widows and their orphans’ daughters dowery and other things when they get married. In sha Allah, this is our program. Our aim is to give them Eid gifts at every Eid.

But all of the above are impossible unless you lovely peoples get involved. Everything is possible only with your cooperation. I would like to ask all of you brothers and sisters to support us in this good deed.

Humanity World and my other trustees regularly contribute to this charity every month too. So, I hope that you too will show your special interest and contribute more generously You will also help the widows, orphans, and the poor out of what Allah has given you. May Allah accept your donation.

Making a difference is our duty

Being caring and compassionate for one’s fellow human beings is a central part of Islam. When reading the Qur’an, one cannot help being struck by the number of times charity is mentioned: Feeding the poor and needy, supporting orphans, relatives, and travellers, spending in the way of Allah… All of these references emphasise the importance of charity for every Muslim.

Several Ahadith – sayings of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) – refer to this deep affection and brotherhood:

“You will not believe until you love for your brother what you love for yourself.”

“The believers are like one body in their mutual love and affection: if one limb is injured, the rest responds with sleeplessness and fever.”

If a Muslim feels the pain of his or her fellow human being and wishes the same comfort and good life for others which he wishes for himself, it is a natural reaction to give in charity, to ease this suffering.

In addition to the indisputable benefits for those receiving charity, Islam also highlights the spiritual to give your wealth away selflessly to remember that every blessing they have in this life comes from Allah (SWT). We must not hoard our wealth and blessings but instead recognise that He wishes for us to be compassionate and share our provisions with others without pride:“You who believe, do not cancel out your charitable deeds with reminders and hurtful words” (Qur’an, 2:264).

The Qur’an reminds us that there is a “recognised right, for the needy and deprived” over our wealth (70:24-5), so by giving for the sake of others, a Muslim is fulfilling a duty to those in need and preventing him or her from becoming proud of their own generosity.

In fact, Allah (SWT) describes those who prevent the supporting of orphans and the feeding of the poor as “those who reject the faith” (107:1-3), as charity should be given in “prosperity or adversity” (3:134), without fear for one’s wealth. We should have faith that a sincere act of giving can only bring abundant reward:

“Those who spend their wealth in Allah’s cause are like grains of corn which produce seven ears, each bearing a hundred grains.” (Qur’an, 2:261)

With Zakat – the obligatory annual tax due on an adult Muslim’s wealth – one of the five pillars of Islam, supporting the poor and needy through charity is an undeniable cornerstone of faith.

Humanity World – Sadaqah refers to a voluntary act of charity or kindness to please Allah most high towards a person, animal, plant or any of Allah’s creation.

This can come in many forms, for example, to smile at someone. The beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace & blessing be upon him) informed us this is an act of charity. One may ask why is smiling an act of charity? Simply because it brings joy to the heart of another person.

A higher form of Sadaqah is giving from the wealth Allah has given you and spending it on your neighbours, the poor, widows and orphans for food, shelter and clothing.  As well as building wells, sponsoring students, and supporting hospitals.

Allah says in the Holy Quran: “You will not attain to piety until you spend of that which you love” (Surah Al’Imran, 92) & “O believers give of what We have provided for you” (Surah Al’Baqara, 254)

There is also another type of Sadaqah, Sadaqah Jariyah.

 Humanity World - Sadaqah
Humanity World – Sadaqah

The main difference here is Jariyah, which means something which continues. An act of charity which continues to benefit people long term. As a result, we would still reap the immense rewards of this charitable act together with Allah’s most high pleasure long after we have left this temporary abode insha’Allah.

The Holy Prophet (peace & blessing be upon him) taught us the concept of Sadaqah Jariyya in the following narration:

“When a man dies all his Humanity World come to an end except three: Ongoing charity (Sadaqah Jariyah), beneficial knowledge and a righteous son who prays for him.”

Why should we take part in sadaqah?

Do you want Allah’s pleasure, love and mercy?

Allah says in the Holy Quran:

“Verily those who give sadaqah, men and women, and lend Allah a goodly loan, it shall be increased manifold, and theirs shall be an honourable good reward”  57:18)

Do you want Allah to forgive you?

The holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:

Sadaqah extinguishes sin as water extinguishes fire” (Tirmidhi)

Do you want Allah to take illnesses away from you and your loved ones and be under Allah’s most high protection? The holy Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) taught us :

Treat your sick ones with Sadaqah. Sadaqah repels all illnesses and calamities. (Bayaqi)
